Bruckner’s Symphony No. 7 was his most successful work during his lifetime. It was so popular that Hitler compared it to Beethoven’s 9th. The famous adagio is the German counterpart to Barber’s famous “Adagio for Strings,” played at many famous (and infamous) occasions.
